World’s Biggest Bookstore may close in 2013

TORONTO – What Torontonians know as the “world’s biggest bookstore” could soon be empty as the large brick-and-mortar space may be closing its doors.

First opened by Jack Cole of Coles Books, the store was eventually sold to Indigo – though the Coles still own the building.

The current lease, held by Indigo books, concludes on December 31 2013, and the Coles are reportedly looking at the possibility of leasing the space to other tenants.

Though indigo and Coles are continuing to negotiate.

If they fail to negotiate a deal, it could mean the end of a Toronto landmark.
