Halifax Police have charged a 55-year-old man for breaching a prohibition order to stay away from areas where children may be.
James Michael Snow was convicted of sexual assault in 2003 and is on a lifetime order of prohibition, preventing him from attending public parks and public swimming areas where people under the age of 14 are present or are reasonably expected to be present.
Snow is also prohibited from being near daycare centres, school grounds, playgrounds or community centers.
On Wednesday afternoon, Snow was observed parked in a gold coloured van in a parking lot of the 500-block of Portland Street. The parking lot that Snow was in belongs to a daycare as well as an indoor playground.
He was arrested and held in custody overnight. Snow is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth court Thursday afternoon to face a charge of breaching a prohibition order.
