KELOWNA – Two movies from 1949 will be shown on the final weekend of operations for Kelowna’s downtown Paramount Theatre.
That’s because the theatre opened in 1949.
The movie screens will forever fade to black on March 28th.

The two films are Orson Welles’ The Third Man and Abbott & Costlello’s Africa Screams.
Tickets are $3 with $1 of that going to the Kids Help Phone charity.
“There’s no question that movie-lovers in Kelowna and surrounding communities possess a special Paramount Theatre moment, from first dates to first kisses. And of course, unforgettable movie moments,” says Landmark Cinemas spokesperson Neil Campbell in a news release.
The owner of the building, Ronmor Developments, intends to renovate it for restaurant and other uses.
