Alberta’s Official Opposition released 12 recommendations Tuesday to “get Albertans working again” and to restore “the Alberta Advantage.”

Party leader Brian Jean said the Wildrose would cut small business tax, cut red tape and stimulate the energy sector. The party would also delay the carbon tax until an economic analysis on its impact could be done.

“We haven’t seen any real plan of any substance from the NDP government,” Jean said, “and we thought the best thing we could do is try to get out a dozen very practical, common sense solutions that the government could work on now to implement.”

“We’re hoping they see the spirit of this, done in a collegial manner, [with] the best interest in Alberta. We’re hoping they will adopt these 12 and move forward with them,” the opposition leader said.

· Provide a one per cent cut to the small business tax;
· Reduce WCB premiums by 50 per cent for the first 100 employees in each business and eliminate premiums for new hires until the WCB’s assets are drawn down to 114 per cent of their liabilities;
· Cut red tape 20 per cent by 2019 and implement a one-for-one rule on the introduction of new regulations;
· Cancel the NDP’s $3-billion carbon tax until a full economic impact analysis is conducted;
· Enhance opportunities for apprentices to work on provincial builds so they can finish their training.

“Albertans are experiencing the worst job loss our province has seen in over three decades,” Jean said, adding the NDP is only making things worse.

Jean said the Wildrose does not have any specific job figures based on its plan.
