WINNIPEG – A new name will be added to the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association AAAA hockey trophy.
The defending champion Oak Park Raiders were eliminated from this year’s provincial tournament with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Vincent Massey Trojans in Saturday’s semifinals. The game was a rematch of the city championship final, which was won by the Raiders.
The Trojans will face the St. Paul’s Crusaders in the provincial final. The Crusaders advance to the game following a 10-3 win over the Selkirk Royals.
St. Paul’s last won a MHSAA AAAA hockey title in 2014. Monday night’s championship game at St. James Civic Centre will be the fifth final featuring the Crusaders in the last six years. Vincent Massey meanwhile will look to end a five year drought.
