KELOWNA–A traffic stop in Kelowna turned up 1.2 kilograms of suspected GHB (Gamma Hydroxybutyrate), also known as the date rape drug.
On March 2, a Kelowna RCMP officer spotted a vehicle being driven in a highly erratic manner south bound on Highway 97 near McCurdy Road.
When the vehicle was pulled over the officer noticed signs of possible drug intoxication. After failing a roadside physical coordination test, the driver was taken to the Kelowna RCMP detachment for additional testing.
A search of the vehicle turned up suspected illegal drugs and brand new un-opened electronics which still had the store security devices attached to them.
The driver, a 40-year-old Penticton man, is facing several charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
His passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Penticton is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
