This is the second excavator theft in North Vancouver in the past month. A 2007 red rental excavator, similar to the equipment taken Friday, was stolen from a construction site at 1550 Barrow Street on the evening of May 17. Police are investigating a possible connection between the two thefts.

De Jong said police are also trying to determine where both excavators were taken.

“Anytime equipment of high value, whether it’s a car or construction equipment [is stolen], there’s no thinking where it could end up,” said De Jong.
