Unfortunately for him, the store clerk wasn’t having any of it.

Officers with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office say they were called to the Keysville Convenience Store around 11 a.m. on March 1 in response to a call about an armed robbery.

The store’s security camera shows a young man dressed in a grey hoodie approaching the counter, ostensibly to buy a can of soda.

Within moments (and with minor difficulty) he produces a pistol from the waistband of his pants, and demands the clerk empty the register.

Seeming more annoyed than frightened, the clerk bats away the man’s gun twice, before grabbing his wrist and attempting to pry the pistol from his hands.

With her other hand, she unleashes a beating on the would-be thief, hitting him with her fists and part of the cash register. At one point she tries to him with a nearby hammer.

The man fled the scene before police arrived. Police have not be able to identify him but say the investigation is ongoing.
