SASKATOON – Here on the Prairies, we know how to spot a good deal. According to the annual Kijiji Second-Hand Index Saskatchewan and Manitoba lead the country in second-hand sales.

The study, undertaken by Kijiji in partnership with researchers from the University of Victoria and the Observatoire de la Consommation Responsable in Montreal, shows that Canadian second-hand practices support up to $36 billion in economic activity that may not have happened otherwise.

From online sales or trades on sites like Facebook, Kijiji or eBay, to traditional thrifting at vintage stores or garage sales, it’s estimated Canadians save an average of $480 each and earned approximately $883.
