Three B.C. residents dead after head-on collision near Rosetown, Sask.

RCMP believe poor visibility played a role in a fatal head-on collision Sunday afternoon.

Mounties were called to a two vehicle collision around 3 km west of Rosetown at approximately 12:20 p.m.

RCMP say a westbound car attempted to pass a Highway Transport truck and collided head on with an eastbound SUV.

The 47-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old female passenger from the westbound car were killed in the collision.

A 42-year-old woman, 16-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl from the westbound car were transported to Rosetown and then to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

The 13-year-old later died in hospital from her injuries.

The two occupants of the eastbound SUV, a 56-year-old man and 30-year-old woman from Plato, Sask. were also taken to RUH.

The extent of the injuries is unknown for the four people taken to RUH.

Environment Canada had a rainfall warning issued for the Rosetown area at the time of the collision.

Police say visibility for the westbound car was restricted from water kicked up from truck they were attempting to pass.

Rosetown is approximately 110 km southwest of Saskatoon.
