CALGARY – CALGARY –Rick Watson believes the double murder of his sister and her husband two years ago could be random. Meantime, a Calgary police investigator is begging the public for tips in connection with the unsolved murders of Don and Roxanne Carlson. Friends of the couple have also renewed the $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a suspected carbon monoxide complaint at a home in the 12200 block of Lake Erie Road S.E.
Two people were found dead inside the house. The Calgary Police Homicide Unit was called into investigate after carbon monoxide was ruled out as a contributing factor in the deaths.
“I remain very hopeful. Our families hope and pray every day that justice is done,” Watson expressed. The brother of Roxanne went on to say, “we’ll support the police in any way we can.”
Investigators were able to trace a newer silver or grey pickup truck, seen near the Carlson’s residence, back to the rental agency.
Police said the truck was rented by a man believed to be using fraudulent B.C. identification and credit cards.

Investigators are looking to identify and find him. It’s not clear what involvement, if any, he had in the homicide.
“This one is very difficult, we have come forward more than once as everyone knows,” Insp. Steve Barlow of the Calgary Police Service Major Crimes Section said.
“Somebody out there knows something. Allegiances change and we’re hoping and actually begging the public to come forward,” Barlow said.
There is currently no suspected motive. Watson can’t figure out what led to the murders.
“Initially I thought it might have something to do with their occupations, but over time I’m wondering if it was a random act.”
Police will not release the cause of death in the case.
“That’s a key piece of evidence that will actually hurt our investigation,” Barlow said.
