Man charged with second-degree murder on Sask. First Nation

RCMP have laid a second-degree murder charge after a 20-year-old man was found dead in eastern Saskatchewan. Following a call for police attendance, Chad Cote was found deceased late Saturday evening in a residence on the Cote First Nation.

Chester Whitehawk, 33, has been charged and remanded to appear in Kamsack provincial court at 9:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.

Both the victim and the accused were known to each other. The RCMP Major Crime Unit-North and Yorkton forensic identification section assisted with the investigation.

RCMP say they’re not seeking any other persons in relation to this incident.

Cote First Nation is approximately 95 kilometres northeast of Yorkton.
