Arbitrator gives unionized TTC workers a six per cent wage increase

TORONTO – An arbitrator has awarded TTC workers across the city a substantial increase in wages in their new three year contract.

The contract, to last three years, has awarded unionized TTC employees – who make approximately 30 dollars on average – a six per cent increase in wages – two per cent a year – over three years.

The real value of the wage increase adds up to approximately 100 million dollars.

The arbitrator though has reduced some benefits for the TTC union.

The TTC is now able to contract out more para-transit service – 62 per cent of total para-transit service – up from 50 per cent in the previous agreement.
