MONTREAL – Taxi drivers in Montreal blocked a large chunk of downtown Montreal in the latest protest against ride-sharing service Uber.
It began at 6 a.m.

Taxi sheriff Hassan Kattoua told Global News cabbies were told to assemble on Sherbrooke and René-Lévesque streets.

“From Saint-Laurent to Crescent streets,” he said.
During the protest, taxi drivers pelted an Uber car with eggs and flour; the Uber driver quickly left as the cabbies cheered.

Protests are also planned on Thursday and at the Montreal Casino on Saturday.

Kattoua told Global News taxi drivers plan to protest every week until something is done about Uber.
