Police in a small Texas suburb are on the lookout for a woman caught on home security camera Sunday stealing a little boy’s toy car right off his front porch.
The footage shows black sedan stopping in front of a house on Colonial Birch Lane in Katy, Texas.
A woman jumps out of the car and makes a run for the front porch of a nearby home. A neighbour’s home security camera, recording silently from across the street, catches her as she dashes to the front porch, grabs the toy, and eventually tries to stuff it in the passenger seat of her car.

The toy belonged to a 3-year-old boy with autism named Santiago Ortega. According to his mother Claudia, the car was his favorite toy.

“He’s little, he doesn’t understand,” Claudia Ortega told KPRC News. “He’s still looking for his car.”
Ortega told local media she and her son had been playing outside all Sunday, and only went indoors for a few minutes. That’s when the alleged toy theft took place.
Witnesses say a man smoking cigarettes was driving the car, and there may have been a third passenger in the back seat.
Ortega says that by releasing the video to local media, she’s hoping to convince the alleged thief to return the toy.
“I don’t know why they want to steal from a 3-year-old. I just don’t understand.”
