Ryan Nugent-Hopkins out 6-8 weeks

EDMONTON — Another blow to the Edmonton Oilers line-up, as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will miss the next 6-8 weeks with a hand injury.

The 22-year-old centre left Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers after blocking a shot with his right hand. In his absence, Anton Lander returns to the line-up Tuesday night in Tampa Bay, while Matt Hendricks will replace Nugent-Hopkins in between Benoit Pouliot and Jordan Eberle.

When asked if the team may rush Connor McDavid back into the line-up, Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan said “Not one bit. He’s not ready.”

The Oilers go to Tampa Bay on a two game winning streak. The Oilers currently sit six points out of a playoff spot.
