SiRT launches investigation after HRP officers allegedly delete video of arrest

The deleting of a video recording of an arrest made by Halifax Regional Police in June has lead to an investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

A complaint was filed by lawyers of the 17-year-old who was arrested at the Reigh Allen Centre in Dartmouth on June 30, 2015.

The witness says the HRP officers deleted a video of the arrest taken by a third person on their phone.

The alleged obstruction of justice by police is now being investigated by SiRT, who call the matter “of significant public interest.”
