RED DEER, Alta. – The executive director of Alberta Beef Producers hopes a meeting this week in Red Deer will provide some clarity on Bill 6.

Rich Smith says there will be 20 organizations at Friday’s meeting where they hope to find a collective strategy for the development of a “made in Alberta”‘ approach to farm safety.

Bill 6 took effect at the start of this year and gives workers compensation benefits to paid farm workers injured on the job.

Smith says Bill 6 still lacks clarity when it comes to safety standards and how they should be applied and investigated at the farm level.
