Police identify Edmonton’s latest homicide victim

EDMONTON – Police have released the identity of a man killed in northeast Edmonton last Thursday night.

Police said Derek Alexander Garnham, 32, died of a gunshot wound. His death has been deemed a homicide.

Police were called by EMS to the area of 119 Avenue and 34 Street at around 7 p.m. Jan. 14. At least five marked EPS vehicles were on scene by 8:45 p.m.

Garnham was found dead inside an area residence.

An autopsy was conducted on Friday, which determined his death was a homicide.

Police continue to investigate the death and ask anyone with information to contact the EPS at 780-123-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.

This is Edmonton’s third homicide of 2016.
