WINNIPEG — A pair of Manitobans will be wearing the maple leaf at separate international hockey tournaments the next few weeks.

Winnipegger Bryan Sholomicki has been named to Canada’s roster for the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Sholomicki was part of Canada’s International Ice Sledge Hockey Tournament championship team earlier this season.

The 34-year-old forward also captured silver at the 2015 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship. Canada opens the tournament on Sunday against Russia. The gold medal game will be played January 23.

Winnipeg defenceman Jett Woo meanwhile will suit up for Canada at next month’s Youth Olympic Games. Jett was chosen from an initial list of 125 players from across the country. The men’s hockey tournament, which features five countries, will play a round-robin format before the playoffs. Canada won bronze at the last Youth Olympic Games in 2012.
