“A real cool place for people to come and see,” said Jeff Langford of the town’s River City Classic Car Club.

The club obtained it from the City of Calgary, which had the old station in storage.

Club members will be restoring it, adding things like vintage gas pumps and cash registers.

They hope to have it open to the public by September at the High River Rodeo Grounds.

“You’re going to go into this building and it’s going to be like stepping back in time” said Langford.

He also hopes an attraction from more recent years will help bring in young families.

The club’s modified an old pickup truck to look like Tow Mater, the popular figure from the Disney movie “Cars”.

It’ll be part of the display when the Eamon’s station opens, with Langford inviting kids to “climb all over it, and check it out, and sit in the seat.”
