In the summer of 2014, then-Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive tackle Devon Still found out his four-year-old daughter had cancer.
Leah Still was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that typically affects babies and young children.
Since then the football player has been sharing snippets of Leah’s cancer journey on social media, sparking the hashtag #LeahStrong.
Still says he and his daughter created the Still Strong Foundation, which supports cancer research and families affected by childhood cancer.
The duo went on to win the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the ESPYs in 2015.
On Tuesday, Still announced that Leah had her last treatment and had finally beaten cancer.
He wrote on Instagram:
“With Leah finishing her last treatment last night, I can really say my daughter BEAT CANCER! Words can’t describe how proud I am of this girl. No matter how hard it got or how painful the treatments were (and it was pretty bad a lot of the times) she never gave up!”
Still was signed to the Houston Texans to a futures contract earlier this year.
