Teen charged after online threat forces schools into ‘secure the building’ mode

REGINA – A 17-year-old male is facing charges after he allegedly made an online threat to another teen through social media.

Police started investigating on Monday morning when an 18-year-old Balfour Collegiate student received a possible threat, which prompted Balfour Collegiate and Miller Comprehensive School (because it is nearby) to go into a ‘secure the building’ mode.

The ‘secure the building’ protocol was lifted at 2:30 p.m. after police arrested the 17-year-old who allegedly made the threats.

The name of the accused will not be released due to his age, but he is charged with Uttering Threats and will make his next court appearance on February 25th.
