KELOWNA — After bringing the Okanagan Sun to the team’s first BCFC championship in 11 seasons, the head coach and the Sun part ways.

Shane Beatty spent three years in Kelowna and was recently named the Canadian Junior Football League Coach of the Year following the 2015 regular season.

Beatty brought the team to an undefeated regular season. The team’s only loss was at the national championship, where the Sun fell to the Saskatoon Hilltops 38-24.

“I would like to thank the entire Okanagan Sun family for this great opportunity with no regrets,” says Beatty. “I will cherish the three years I spent here, winning Coach of the Year twice and working with an outstanding group of young men.”

Beatty also thanks his coaching staff, and Pastor Gary Swabey and Eric Pardy for their time and commitment to the players.
