UPDATE: Boil water advisory lifted for South Shore communities

LONGUEUIL – Residents in Brossard, Saint-Lambert, Greenfield Park and the Lemoyne sector, can now safely drink their tap water.

A boil water advisory that was issued Christmas Day, has now been lifted. City officials tweeted the news Sunday afternoon.

Longueuil city officials issued the advisory after a power failure at the Le Royer water treatment plant on Friday, which caused a drop in water pressure.

Preliminary tests showed that water quality was not affected by the power failure but the advisory was being maintained as a precautionary measure.

Results of a second round of testing Sunday confirmed the preliminary findings and led to the lifting of the advisory.
