Sylvan Lake RCMP are asking people in central Alberta to keep an eye out for a 45-year-old man wanted for attempted murder.
They said around 7:45 p.m. on Monday night, officers were called to Township Road 402, northwest of Eckville, after a man was found on the side of the road suffering from stab wounds.
In a press release, Mounties said the man was “severely injured” and had to be transported to hospital in Edmonton via STARS air ambulance.
Police said they believe the man was attacked by Edward Dwayne Heywood, of no fixed address. A warrant for his arrest has been issued on the charge of attempted murder.
Heywood, 45, is described as:
-6’2 and 220 pounds
-Has brown hair that may have recently been dyed red
-Brown eyes

-Has fire and a dragon tattoo on his right forearm, a fish and octopus skulls tattooed on his left forearm, and a tiger tattooed on his upper right arm
Police said Heywood was last known to be driving a black, 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck with Alberta licence plates BPB 0593.
They said he is known to spend time in Red Deer, Penhold, Rocky Mountain House as well as Olds and that he often stays in hotels and motels.
Police warned Heywood is considered armed and dangerous and that anybody who sees him is asked not to approach him.
Anyone with information on Heywood’s whereabouts or the attack near Eckville is asked to call 911 or the Sylvan Lake RCMP detachment at 403-858-7200.
