TORONTO – Amid ongoing construction, travelling through Union Station can be a busy and complicated feat throughout the holidays and Metrolinx is trying to relieve some of the confusion by adding more services for commuters.
As one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs, Union Station sees more than 200,000 travellers through its concourse daily.
Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins said she understands the frustrations commuters and those visiting for the holidays face.

“I completely understand. I work in the building and it does get confusing at times, but we are undergoing a massive renovation,” Aikins said.
“A lot of it is already done but now new sections are being done, so parts are closed off and you arrive and you’re not sure where to go.”
Aikins also said that Metrolinx has added extra staff and signage to help navigate through the station.
But traveller Linda Hansen said she hasn’t noticed much of a difference.
“It’s very difficult and I am happy I am retired so I don’t have to do it anymore,” Hansen said.
“I will be very happy when it’s all over.”
Much of the confusion began when the Bay Street concourse was closed in August for renovations.
Those travelling through for the holidays will have to continue to reroute their trips until construction is done in 2018.
