CALGARY – One man was rushed to hospital on Monday following a brutal assault in the downtown core.
Emergency crews were called to 11 Avenue and 1 Street S.E. at around 2:30 a.m. after a man in his 30s was found unconscious and suffering from a serious head injury. He was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in critical life-threatening condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition.
Police are in the process of questioning another man found near the scene after it was discovered that he had blood on his shoes.

The incident caused the closure of 1 Street S.E. between 10 and 11 Avenue S.E.
