REVELSTOKE — As of first light Tuesday morning, Search and Rescue crews are continuing their search for a missing sledder near Revelstoke.

Travis Allen Brown, 42, is from Drayton Valley, Alberta. Two teams including two helicopters equipped with a transceiver-designed to pick-up a signal from a beacon are conducting the search.

“Mr.Brown had a beacon with him and the assumption is that he was wearing it and it was on,” says Cpl. Thomas Blakney.

Blakney says search conditions are not great as the rain continues to pour in Revelstoke.

“The popular snowmobile area of Frisby Ridge and Boulder Mountain have been closed Tuesday in order for Search and Rescue to conduct their search with minimal interference,” says Blakney.

“The Revelstoke snowmobile club and the Revelstoke RCMP are on-site to ensure sledder’s comply to this closure and appreciate the public’s cooperation.

The missing male is caucasian, 6’1” tall, weighs 77 kilograms, has blond hair and brown eyes. He was believed to be wearing a brighter green Helly Hansen snowmobile outfit with a green leaf pattern on the matching jacket with pants.

“Mr. Brown would have been wearing a new motocross-style helmet with green [camouflage] goggles and operating a 2014 Polaris RMK red and white in colour,” says Blakney.

Anyone with information about where Brown may be or has had any contact with him in the past 48 hours is asked to contact RCMP at 250-837-5255 or Crime Stoppers.
