Recipe: Chocolate Pinecones

Purdy’s Culinary Advisor Shawn Taylor shows how you can make some festive and delicious chocolate pinecones.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  •  1/2 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp cocoa power
  • 200g Purdys Classic Dark Chocolate (4 bars)
  • 8 cups cornflakes
  • 15 pieces (approx. 150g) Purdys Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters (purchase in‐shop), chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vida Nibs, chopped

1. In large pot, melt butter and sugar on medium‐low heat.

2. Add honey, cocoa powder and chopped dark chocolate into the pot.

3. Stir until chocolate melts and mixture is nicely blended. Remove from heat.

4. Add cornflakes and gently mix with spatula until flakes are completely covered in chocolate.

5. Add Almond Clusters and Vida Nibs. Stir until incorporated and let mixture sit at room temperature for 1 hour.

6. Scoop 2 tsp of the mixture in cupcake baking cups. Shape pinecones with your fingers. Add more mixture if needed to achieve desired shape.

7. Let pinecones rest at room temperature for a couple of hours.

8. Dust with icing sugar before serving.

Makes approximately 40 pinecones.
