Sylvester Stallone producing ‘Rambo’ TV series

It’s been almost 10 years since the last movie version of Rambo. Now it seems Fox wants to bring it to the small screen as well.

According to Variety, the project has been brewing for a while, and Sylvester Stallone is teaming up with Avi Lerner (who helped produce all three Expendables movies) to craft the show for TV as an homage to the movies.

With the working title of Rambo: New Blood, the series will explore the relationship between Rambo and his son J.R., a former Navy SEAL.

Some sources are claiming that Stallone will be reprising his role as ex-Green Beret Rambo, but that hasn’t been confirmed. At the very least, Stallone will be directly involved in the production.

Movies transition to TV often fail, but Rambo is a different beast altogether. With Stallone backing his pet project, it’ll at least be authentic.

Little-known fact: Rambo: First Blood was shot entirely in British Columbia locations, including Port Coquitlam, Pitt Lake, Pitt Meadows and Golden Ears Provincial Park. Given how much is being shot in B.C. these days, it’s not too far-fetched to speculate that Stallone may choose to return to Rambo’s original “jungle.”
