CALGARY – Over two thousand female hockey players have descended into Calgary for the sixth annual Wickenheiser Female World Hockey Festival.
Wickfest, created by five-time Olympic medalist Hayley Wickenheiser is sold-out once again this year, with nearly 100 teams from all over Canada and even overseas.
This year, the national under-18 team from the Czech Republic will participate.

“The growth that happens, the inter-mingling of cultures, I think it’s just a feel good thing all around,” said Wickenheiser.
The four-day festival expands well beyond just the competition on the ice, with plenty of games and events off the ice. Players will also be exposed to world class instruction on mental training and nutrition.
“The goal is that when they leave they become not only a better hockey player but they’re a better athlete and well-rounded person,” said Wickenheiser.
Action on the ice begins Friday at WinSport Arenas, and will wrap on Sunday.
