Police investigating after cyclist, 18, struck and killed in Chatham-Kent, Ont.

TORONTO — An 18-year-old man has died from his injuries after he was struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle in Chatham-Kent, Ont.

Police said the collision occurred just after 7 p.m. Wednesday night on Bloomfield Road between Riverview Line and Richmond Street.

The unnamed driver of a GMC Acadia was allegedly driving southbound when she struck the cyclist.

The cyclist was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance hospital by ambulance and died from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old Tilbury, Ont. woman, was not injured in the crash and no charges have been laid.

Chatham-Kent police continue to investigate the cause of the collision and anyone with information is asked to contact them.
