Massive doughnut made in Saskatoon to break world record

SASKATOON – On Tuesday morning, Community Learner’s High School in Saskatoon set out to bake the world’s longest long john doughnut for a shot at $50,000.

In a contest put on by Affinity Credit Union, the first of three organizations to raise $10,000 will receive an additional $50,000.

Should they win, Community Learner’s High School plans to use the money to build and renovate a cafeteria for students and support other academic programs.

The campaign runs for one more week and the Saskatoon school is just shy of reaching its $10,000 goal.

Measuring 19 feet, the enormous treat spans 40 regular sized long johns and was made in less than two hours.

The current record stands at just over 13 feet and in six weeks the team will officially find out if their doughnut breaks the world record.
