REGINA – An application has been submitted to the City of Regina to demolish the Robert Simpson Warehouse, commonly known as the Sears Warehouse.
The eight story building at the corner of 4th Avenue and Broad Street is a Municipal Heritage Holding Bylaw Property. What this means is that the building is protected from demolition or significant changes pending a 60 day holding period.

“We’ll listen to both sides of the discussion and see what’s happening. Ultimately council will decide that,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.

The application is expected to go to council for a decision sometime in December.
Sears shut down their operations at the warehouse in the Spring of 2014 when it served as a distribution centre. Nearly 300 people lost their jobs in the move.
