MONTREAL — Montreal police are investigating yesterday’s train derailment as a criminal matter. A Canadian-Pacific spokesperson confirmed in an email that their police service and Montreal police “…are working jointly on a criminal investigation” and that “the railcars may have been tampered with…”
In Hochelaga Thursday morning a slow-moving freight train jumped the rails and crashed into the backyard of a man on Terrasse Thomas-Valin.
There were no injuries. Transportation Safety Board investigators were at the scene Friday morning. The rails are owned by Canadian-Pacific.
