Man injured in Longueuil police chase to face charges

LONGUEUIL – A man in his 20s is set to appear in court Thursday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase.

Longueuil officers were doing speed checks at 1:00 a.m. on Marie-Victorin Boulevard and Provencher Street in St-Lambert, when the suspect sped by.

Police tried unsuccessfully to intercept the driver who fled on Highway 132.

Officers caught up with the man on the shoulder of Highway 132 and Highway 20, after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a guardrail.

The suspect was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his upper body.

Longueuil police spokesperson Melanie Mercille said he will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, pursuit, and driving under the influence.
