WINNIPEG — A lineup to watch a team Winnipeg hasn’t seen in action for four years formed outside the MTS Centre Thursday. Downtown buzzed with Manitoba Moose fans as they dropped the puck for their home opener against the Ontario Reign.
“The very first time I was in Winnipeg I saw the Moose play,” a visiting fan said. “Now I’m back and so are the Moose and so I’m excited for the game.”
The American League Hockey team was in the city for 15 years, but relocated to St. John’s for four years once the Jets returned to Winnipeg. While fans say that it’s exciting to have another home grown team to support, it’s also beneficial for families who want to watch professional hockey for a lower cost.
“You can go with your whole family, take the kids,” a Winnipeg dad said. “We are here with a hockey team and being able to take them all is a great experience for everybody.”
Manitoba Moose tickets start at $19. The Moose and Jets will both play home games at the MTS Centre.
