MONTREAL – Two elderly occupants of a car lost their lives late Tuesday afternoon when they were involved in a major head-on collision with a tanker truck.
It happened around 4:30pm on route 139 near Roxton Pond in the Eastern Townships.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but the highway was closed for hours.
Another accident on the 112 about an hour before sent three people to hospital with serious injuries.
The highway has been the scene of a number of fatal accidents over the years.
