TORONTO – Justin Trudeau says a middle-class tax cut would be the first piece of legislation to be introduced in Parliament by a Liberal government after election day Oct. 19.
Trudeau is making the announcement at a Toronto grocery store, where he displayed the amount of food a typical Canadian family would be able to purchase each month with the resultant savings.

The Liberal leader says Canadians earning taxable income of between $45,000 and $90,000 would save $670 per person per year, or as much as $1,300 for a two-income household.
Unlike Conservative tax cuts, he says, those eligible would see the money on their pay stubs right away, rather than having to wait for income tax season.
To pay for it, Trudeau is also planning a new tax bracket of 33 per cent for those earning annual incomes of $200,000 or more.
He predicts that putting more money in the pockets of middle-class families would stimulate and grow the Canadian economy.
