CALGARY – Police are searching for suspects following a home invasion in the community of Dover Glen on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Doverglen Crescent S.E. at around 3:50 a.m. after someone called 911 but then hung up. The dispatcher who received the call told police they heard what sounded like a disturbance on the other end of the line.
When they arrived, investigators witnessed two men taking off on foot. The suspects ran west and tried to cross over Deerfoot Trail S.E. but were taken into custody.
Police say a man and woman were awake inside the home when the incident began.
It doesn’t appear that anything was taken, but the front window and door of the house were damaged.
Police are looking for an unknown number of suspects who they say may have fled the area, possibly an older model Jeep.
Neighbours told Global News the homeowners had just moved into the house about a year ago, and that another break-in had occurred about two months before.
“It makes us nervous because you don’t know what’s going on,” said Sherry Theoret. “There was a car set on fire here like a month ago, a the house next door… it’s been really odd.”
Nearby residents also suggested the home had been shut down in the past due to drug operations, but police aren’t able to confirm that detail.
