Police search for suspicious man approaching female students at Oakville high school

TORONTO — Police are looking for a suspicious man who allegedly approached female students at an Oakville high school on three separate occasions.

Halton Regional Police said two female students were walking to Oakville Trafalgar High School, in the Bedford Road and Deramore Drive area, when they were approached by a man who struck up a conversation with them on Sept. 16.

Police said both students felt uncomfortable and walked away from the man towards the school.

On Tuesday, police said a lone female student was approached by a man in the Maple Grove Road, near Maple Grove Plaza.

The man allegedly engaged the student in conversation while police said he was standing in a “very close proximity” to her. That student also quickly walked away from the man towards the school.

On Thursday, police said a third incident occurred that allegedly involved the same suspect.

A lone female student was walking towards the school, near Bedford Road and Deramore Drive, when police said she saw a male standing by a vehicle watching her.

Police said the man then allegedly entered the vehicle and followed the girl until she arrived at the school.

The suspect is described by police as a white male, approximately 5’10” with an average build, short brown or blond buzzed hair with brown eyes, who was wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans. He appeared clean shaven and had blue sunglasses hanging from his shirt and possibly spoke with an eastern European accent.

The vehicle associated with the suspect is described as an older white or grey four-door sedan, similar to a mid-to-small-size Toyota or Honda with silver rims.

Police are reminding students to trust their instincts and to use their cell phones to call someone or “walk with a purpose” to their destination if they feel uncomfortable in a situation.

Halton Regional Police have a list of personal safety tips on their website that can be shared with both students and parents.
