UPDATE: Family reflects on viral video of special touchdown

REGINA – A video has been viewed thousands of times online showing two Regina Minor Football teams helping make a dream come true. A boy with cerebral palsy was able to score his very first touchdown on Saturday.

At the game, Logan Tonge was invited onto the field from the sidelines to run the final play.

His mother shared the video online and told Global News the moment meant the world to her 11-year-old son and that she had no idea the coaches had planned to bring him out on the field.

“It’s completely changed the way Logan feels about himself,” said Krista Smith.  “He came home giving us a play by play about how he deeked out players to make it to the end zone.”

The man behind the idea, coach Mark Sulymka said the team just wanted to do something special for Logan who’s a huge part of their community.

“We just wanted to get him the ball,” he said.  “We saw an opportunity late in the game. There was about 10 seconds left and we were going to take a knee anyways and I thought, if we’re going to take a shot at it this would be it.”
