SASKATOON – Fundraising efforts are underway for a pitbull that was dragged by a minivan in Saskatoon last Sunday. It happened near Lenore Drive and Silverwood Road.
The dog sustained extensive injuries and is facing a long recovery.
The Saskatoon SPCA has started fundraising for the animal’s recovery costs. The pitbull is expected to undergo multiple procedures, as well as behaviour rehabilitation after the physical wounds heal.
“The dog is in stable condition, but still in critical condition,” said Lindsay Royale, the public relations coordinator with the animal shelter.
“It’s suffering post-traumatic stress and there will be some surgery that’s required, some reconstructive surgery, so we’re just taking it day-by-day.”

Staff have named the dog “Heroic Henry.” Donations can be made at the Heroic Henry Giveffect page. Over $11,000 had been donated by 1 p.m. Thursday.
SPCA officials said the estimated medical and rehabilitation cost will be between $5,000 and $10,000 and that all money raised will help with Henry’s recovery and other animals in need at the shelter.
Saskatoon police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact them at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
