EDMONTON – It’s still early in the pre-season for the Edmonton Oilers, but I think I speak for a lot of people that we just want to get in to action.
With all the changes in the organization there’s renewed optimism and I want to see how that translates when things are going well and, more importantly, when things aren’t.
For starters, Todd McLellan doesn’t pull any punches as the head coach of the team.

Taylor Hall said Tuesday the he thinks McLellan has had face time with almost everybody in the room and that he thinks the guys are really enjoying it.
Another thing I’ve enjoyed seeing with McLellan is his teaching.
The players have talked about how nice it is not to be told where to be, but why they should be there. And already, McLellan has seen those things in scrimmages, so you know it’s resonating with a group who has seen so much change behind the bench. It certainly can’t be easy to change systems every year.
Let’s see how these players do against the best of the best and let’s see how the coaching staff handles it.
It’s still September, though, so I’ll have to find some patience, which isn’t my strength.
