Second-degree murder charge laid in north Lethbridge homicide

LETHBRIDGE – A 29-year-old man was charged Monday morning with second-degree murder in a weekend homicide.

On Saturday afternoon Lethbridge police were called to investigate at a north side home, where 29-year-old Matthew James Flitton was found dead.

Police were called to the 500 block of 19 Street north, where they found Flitton’s body. Lethbridge police arrested and charged Randall William Enright, 29, with one count of second-degree murder.

Police said their investigation revealed Enright is an “associate” of the victim. He was identified as a suspect and arrested with the assistance of the Tactical Team at a south side home Saturday night.

A neighbour told Global News he has often seen officers going in and out of the house. Others who live near the home also said they’ve often seen police in the area.

Enright will remain in custody until his first court date on Tuesday.

An autopsy to confirm the cause of Flitton’s death has been scheduled for September 22 at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary.
