Like many neighbourhoods, Sunalta has it’s challenges – not the least of which is traffic.
The community, whose name is derived from ‘Sunny Alberta’, got a boost when the LRT came in.

But another form of transportation is causing problems.
Nearly 100,000 vehicles a day use 14th Street and Bow Trail as thoroughfares.
Another 100,000 use Crowchild Trail.
“Right now we feel like a bit of a freeway,” said Twyman.
But Sunalta could become more of a destination with a thriving business community if plans to build a massive sports entertainment complex get off the ground.
“It can be a good thing if it’s controlled and if there are facilities here for people to use, to stay in their neighbourhood and increase business,” added Twyman.
