Anticipation is building for die-hard Apple fans in advance of Friday’s launch of the new iPad.
Apple announced on Wednesday that Apple stores across Canada will open their doors at 8:00 a.m. on Friday for the long-awaited arrival of the third generation of the iPad.
Tech junkies will line up in nine different countries on Friday morning, attempting to get their hands on the device, launching at 8:00 a.m. local time around the world.
The new iPad has been available on Apple’s website since it was announced on March 7, but Canadian customers can expect a two- to three-week wait for their pre-order to be shipped.

Some of the most anticipated features of the latest generation include the new retina display, first introduced with the iPhone 4, offering four times as many pixels in the screen than the previous generation of iPads.
The A5X chip equipped with quad-core graphics, 5 megapixel iSight camera and a ten-hour battery life are all new features of the new iPad.
One of the more talked-about features is the introduction of 4G technology. The iPad WiFi+4G supports 4G LTE networks in the US and Canada, and faster 3G networks around the world. TELUS, Rogers and Bell are the only Canadian carriers who currently support 4G networks and all have data plans available for the iPad.
The new iPad will be available in black and white and start at $519 (CAD) for a 16GB WiFi model, $619 for the 32GB and $719 for the 64GB.
The iPad Wi-Fi + 4G models start at $649 for a 16GB, $749 for a 32GB and $849 for a 64GB model.
