At the premiere of Desierto, Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed to ET Canada that his character would probably be a Donald Trump supporter.

The thriller, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, is about a group of would-be immigrants struggling to cross the American border due to a deranged vigilante who takes up border patrol duties to keep them out of the country.
With Donald Trump and his controversial statements on Mexican immigrants, ET Canada asked Morgan what his thoughts were on the topic:
“Yeah it has become a relevant topic due to one guy. Um, if my character could vote he would vote for Trump I think.”
His character in the film may be racist, but that doesn’t mean Morgan’s views are the same:
“I don’t necessarily agree with any of it. I don’t think it should be a relevant conversation. I think the people that want so badly into this country are 99 per cent of them are looking for a better life.
And so I don’t necessarily agree with the whole ‘Let’s put walls up’. But hey, that’s me.”

We couldn’t let the actor get away without answering some questions about his new role in The Good Wife.
“I’m playing an investigator so I guess in some way that I’m… well, I’m working on it right now. We’re on episode seven. I’ll be at work in the morning on the set so I’m leaving straight from seeing you. I don’t even get to see the movie; I’m going straight to the set.”
Although the series is the reason why he’s missing out on the Desierto premiere, he had nothing but good things to say about the series.
“It’s great. It’s a really great group of people and I’ve known Julianna for a while but to work with her is a whole ‘nother thing,” he says. “She’s spectacular. The whole cast is spectacular.”
He also mentioned that there may be a budding romance. “Sparks are flying between the two characters” he says. “We haven’t closed the deal yet but there’s some flirtation happening.”

We’re looking forward to seeing the romance unravel in the series. To catch Morgan in his latest film Desierto, tickets are still available for the screening at 9:00 PM at the Ryerson Theatre on September 19.
