Halifax — There was a large police presence Saturday morning in the community of Williamswood, just outside Halifax.
Officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 11 a.m. about a male standing in the driveway of a home on Moody Point Drive with a gun.
Members of the Emergency Response Team and the K-9 unit were called in to assist police.
Two men were taken into custody by officers and are currently being interviewed.
Police have now secured the scene around the home and are waiting for a search warrant so they can thoroughly search the home.
Officers tell Global News they believe the weapon that prompted the 911 call is somewhere inside the home.
“The offence was that a male had a firearm, so we need to determine whether or not it was a real firearm, you know what was the intention. Right now, we’re still in the early stages of the investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Bill Morris, Halifax Regional Police.
A vehicle was seen fleeing the scene before police arrived at the home. Officers are still trying to track down who was inside that vehicle and what the connection is to the incident.
At this point, no charges have been laid.
